MARDIS GRAS 2012mardis gras mask

This year Yaga's Entertainment is having its first annual Mardi Gras Fire Truck Parade.  The name of this parade is the Danny Weber Memorial Fire Truck Parade, and will be held on Friday, February 17th at 7:00 pm.  The route of the parade will make two laps through the heart of the Mardi Gras entertainment district.  Line-up for the parade will be along the beautiful Galveston  harbor on Pier 21.  Due to the generosity of Yaga's Entertainment, there are no fees associated with this parade.  Yaga's is even supplying a generous amount of beads for each truck.  To register for this event, please fill out the attached registration form and either fax it or mail it to the address on the form. You must be registered by January 31st.  Since the parade will be limited to the first 50 entries, please register early to reserve your spot.  If you need additional information, please contact Charles Olsen at (409) 789-1265.

SAFETY ALERT!!!

The info sheet I have included is from The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), based in Atlanta, Georgia, is a federal public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human ServicesThis is in NO WAY an approval to breech normal safety protocols for a Haz Mat incident.  Distance and Shielding from H2S exposure are the best means of survival.  However, if you or another emergency responder (police, ems or fire) are exposed it is primarily a respiratory hazard.  Clothing should be removed and double bagged.  Soap and water emergency decon must be performed for the safety of medical providers.  The olfactory perception level is very low and so is the IDLH level.

We are called to persons in vehicles who appear unconscious on a regular basis.  Upon approaching a vehicle, carefully look inside prior to opening a door or window.  If there is ANY evidence of a mixing devise, such as a bowl, pail or bucket, or the presents of pool chemicals, drain cleaners or yard chemicals.  Retreat immediately and evacuate the area allowing at least a 100 foot Hot Zone.  Pay careful attention to wild direction and immediately remove all personnel from this area.

Rotten egg odor is a clue to Hydrogen Sulfide and Almonds is the odor clue to Hydrogen Cyanide, both are VERY easy to produce and all products are available over the counter.  This type of suicide is on the rise and now it has made a presents in our community.  This is not just limited to vehicle based incidents, it can be enacted in any closed structure.

Please be safe,

Stay Safe,
Stan Kozlowski
